The Open Oven Project was created with a simple idea: celebration should be accessible to everyone.

Every cake we bake is rooted in the same purpose. Whether it’s a birthday cake ordered for your family or a cake gifted through our Cake It Forward program, each one is made with the same care, the same recipes, and the same love.

Because joy shouldn’t come with qualifiers.

Behind every recipe is intention. I test and retest flavors until they feel just right — the perfect balance of comfort, texture, and joy. Once a recipe earns its place in my notebook, it becomes part of something bigger. These are the very same recipes used for the cakes you order and the cakes we gift to neighbors who need a little extra sweetness in their lives.

There’s no “less than” here.

Cake It Forward

One of the heartbeats of The Open Oven Project is our Cake It Forward program. A portion of every purchase helps fund free cakes for neighbors in our community — for birthdays, milestones, hard seasons, and everything in between.

Sometimes it’s a child who hasn’t had a birthday cake before. Sometimes it’s a family navigating a tough year. Sometimes it’s simply someone who needs to feel seen.

We bake one.

Celebrating Everyone

We want everyone to feel welcome at the table. That’s why we offer gluten-free and vegan options, crafted with the same thoughtfulness and care as everything else we bake. While specialty ingredients do come with a small upcharge, we’re always happy to talk through specific needs and find solutions where we can.

Our kitchen isn’t allergen-free, but we take meaningful steps to reduce cross-contamination — and we’re always open to sharing our process so you can make informed decisions.
